POSITION TITLE: MECHANICAL ENGINEER / STRESS ANALYST (TEMPORARY POSITION)

REPORTS TO: Structural Engineer Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to Structural Engineer Supervisor, this position will work as part of a team to design and analyze mechanical systems. Will provide analytical support from initial design through manufacturing and commissioning/operation.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Perform engineering analysis of mechanical systems
  2. Perform FEA analysis of structures
  3. Use classical analysis methods perform structural and mechanical analysis, and to verify FEA
  4. Provide technical support and resolution for mechanical and engineering problems encountered after fabrication
  5. Work closely with all engineering staff and project managers to ensure all system requirements are met
  6. Travel to support assigned projects when required
  7. Perform other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Degree in Mechanical Engineering (EIT or P.ENG) with a minimum of one year experience
  2. Finite Element Analysis Experience. ANSYS experience would be an asset
  3. Experience with a solid modeling package. SolidWorks experience would be an asset
  4. Experience using classical analysis methods to solve engineering design problems
  5. Experience with the design of robust and economical mechanical systems. Familiarity with fabrication processes and machine shop capabilities would be an asset

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Proficient in using computer hardware and software (i.e. CAD and MS Office applications)
  2. Knowledge of FEA methods
  3. Knowledge of material properties and availability of different engineering materials
  4. Knowledge of MIL-SPECs an asset
  5. Ability to problem solve and meet deadlines
  6. Ability to communicate and establish/maintain effective relations

ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to all company policies and procedures while carrying out duties
  2. A Level II (Secret) Security Clearance from Public Works and Government Services Canada, Industrial Security Services, may be required
