POSITION TITLE: TECHNICAL WRITER
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Documentation Manager, develops a wide range of technical documentation through all phases of projects, including proposals, engineering reports, manuals, training materials, and more. Participates in logistics, reliability, maintainability, and safety analyses.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop technical content of documentation
- Prepare final documents that are complete and of professional quality
- Develop operating and maintenance manuals for electromechanical equipment
- Develop test plans and procedures
- Support reliability, maintainability, logistics and safety analysis
- Work with engineering, design and manufacturing personnel to build product knowledge
- Provide design feedback based on analytical results and general observation
- Develop training presentation materials, hand-outs, curricula, and trainer and student guides
- Generate and process graphics for use in documents, starting from 2D and 3D CAD files, photographs, etc.
- Assist other employees with documentation-related issues
- Review and edit material produced by others
- Interact with customers as needed, including presenting before audiences
- International travel as required
- Perform other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Broad technical background with a minimum of five (5) years related technical experience
- Mechanical experience and demonstrable aptitude required
- Hydraulic, electrical, and software experience strongly preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- High level of proficiency in MS Office
- Proven technical documentation abilities
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics (electrical and hydraulic)
- Detail oriented
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
