POSITION TITLE: MECHANICAL DETAILER
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Mechanical Design Supervisor, this position will work as part of a team to detail drawings used in the design and manufacture of mechanical systems. The position will provide project support during detail design for manufacture and assembly.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform mechanical detailing tasks to achieve project design goals while meeting schedule requirements provided by project manager/designer
- Preparation of assembly drawings and parts lists, working with the Configuration Manager to obtain part numbers, and preparation of part number data packages for ERP system
- Provide supporting drawings for technical documentation as requested
- Preparation of Engineering Change Notices as needed to support mechanical assembly and functional requirements during fabrication/machining, initial assembly and factory acceptance testing
- Communicate with project managers and designers to ensure all customer specifications are met
- Ensure compliance with drawing standards when completing mechanical detailing tasks
- Perform other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology/Technician discipline or an acceptable equivalent in education and experience
- Experience in detailing of drawings for mechanical systems/structures is an asset
- An understanding of parametric modeling is an asset
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficiency using SolidWorks 2006 to detail drawings
- Practical knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to create, read and interpret engineering drawings
- Knowledge of structural fabrications, sheet metal construction and machining practices is an asset
- Ability to recognize and resolve problems as they arise while considering deadlines and resources
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to establish and maintain effective relations with co-workers and clients
