POSITION TITLE: ELECTRICAL DESIGNER
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting directly to the Electrical Design Supervisor, this position will work as part of a team to develop electrical systems. Will provide support to all phases of projects from initial design through manufacturing, commissioning and field support.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design 10-100kW power systems and machine controls to interface with hydraulics, servo drives and other motor controls
- Develop software/firmware and HMIs
- Provide technical support and resolution for electrical and engineering problems encountered after construction
- Work with mechanical designers to develop electrical enclosures
- Evaluate engineering proposals, drawings and design comments for sound electrical engineering practice and conformance with established criteria, and make recommendations
- Work closely with engineering staff and project managers to ensure all customer specifications are met
- Perform compliance with items such as specifications, tolerances and safety factors when completing electrical designs
- International travel, to support assigned projects, when required
- Perform other related duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree/Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology discipline or an acceptable equivalent in education and experience
- Drives and motion control experience
- Experience in Military/Industrial design is an asset
- Experience with SEE Electrical, SolidWorks and National Instruments Software an asset
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient in using computer hardware and software (i.e. CAD and MS Office applications)
- Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations
- Knowledge of MIL-SPECs an asset
- Ability to problem solve and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate and establish/maintain effective relations
